Will It Happen Tonight?

Columbus looks for their first win of the season, Hossa sits out, and Letang is suspended… all that AND tonight’s games.-Los Angeles Kings make 2011 Staples Center debut

After quite the road trip to open the season, the Los Angeles Kings are set to make their home debut tonight against the St. Louis Blues.  They have to do it without their star defenseman Drew Doughty.  Will Jack Johnson and company be able to make up for this loss over the next week?

-Marian Hossa sits out practice Monday

The soon to be considered injury prone, Hossa sat out practice Monday with an undisclosed upper body injury.  The 32-year old is a scoring threat when healthy, another potent weapon on that Blackhawks’ offense.  Hossa will most likely sit out Tuesday’s game against Phoenix after missing his third practice in this young season.  The injury is not related to the two major shoulder injuries that caused Hossa to miss extended amounts of time the past two seasons.

-Defenseman Kris Letang suspended two games

The Eastern Conference powerhouse Penguins are down a man as Kris Letang has been suspended.  Letang will miss two games as the Department of Player Safety ruled on the boarding penalty that was called against him Monday in Winnipeg.

-Can the Blue Jackets win?

The Columbus Blue Jackets make another attempt at their first win this season when the surprising Dallas Stars pay a visit to Nationwide Arena.  Losing Jeff Carter with a broken foot isn’t going to help, and the Richards-less Dallas Stars have been playing well posting a 4-1-0 record.

-Filip Forsberg, F, Leksand (Sweden) is the top prospects overseas.

Sweden boasts 4 of the top 5 prospects according to NHL director of Euro Scouting.
