Daily NHL Recap

THUNDERCATS, HO!

Kessel strikes again, but was it enough to stop the Flyers?  Catch up on each of last night’s games!

Toronto Maple Leafs 2 @ Philadelphis Flyers 4 – Both teams scored in the first with Phil Kessel putting in his NINTH goal of the young season! Philly got into the action with a goal from Jaromir Jagr, and Scott Hartnell’s PPG put the Flyers up 2-1 in the second. Hartnell wasn’t done yet, and built the lead to 3-1 in the third.  The Leafs cut the difference to 3-2 with David Steckel scoring. But it was too little too late as Jagr added the insurance goal in the last five minutes.  In summation, Jagr and Hartnell were all Philadelphia needed to be Toronto Monday night. (Though Kessel is a total badass)

Florida Panthers 2 @ Montreal Canadians 1 – Oh Montreal you’re just so bad at hockey right now. Erik Cole scored three minutes into the contest on a power play goal. The Panthers tied the game up late in the first period on a PPG from Tomas Fleischmann. Both teams spent the entire second period skating around and telling naughty hockey jokes in both English and French. Someone on the ‘Habs must have crossed the line though, because in a fit of rage Scottie Upshall scored on a tip-in, putting the visitors on top for good. Jacob Markstrom was an impressive 40-of-41 for the Panthers.

New York Rangers 2 @ Winnipeg Jets 1 – I’m not going to bore you with the details of the first period since it was boring, and the first intermission contest was kinda ho-hum, which was a bit of a surprise. Ruslan Fedotenko put in a PPG for NYR 1-0, Nik Antropov (not to be confused with Nick Anthropology) tied the game up for the Jets late in the second. The Rangers would get the winning goal from Ryan Callahan on the PPG, and the Rangers are now 3-1 on their great Canadian road trip.
