Should Visors Be Manditory?

Pronger’s eye, Jagr’s stick, and Nuge’s future… all this AND tonight’s games.-Flyers lose Pronger

Defenseman Chris Pronger took a stick to the eye Monday night against Toronto.  The hit was not intentional.  “He’s going to see the eye doctor every day for the next four days,” said Flyers GM Paul Holmgren. “We think after that he’ll be … I don’t want to say out of danger, but if everything goes OK and the swelling goes down, he should start on an exercise program sometime after that and we’re hoping he could rejoin the team in 10 days to two weeks — skating-wise, not necessarily playing.”

-Jagr scores first goal since returning to the NHL

In positive Flyers news, future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr netted two goals in a 4-2 Flyers victory.  He also added an assist in the effort.  If Jagr heats up, watch out Eastern Conference.  The Flyers could make a run at the favorites: Washington, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo.

-Penguins injury woes continue

Zbynek Michalek will miss four to six weeks with a broken finger after getting hit by a shot.  Sidney Crosby has missed ten games, Evgeni Malkin seven, Brooks Orpik eight, Dustin Jeffrey eight, and Tyler Kennedy four.  Despite all that, Pittsburgh still holds a 6-2-2 record and is tied with Washington for the most points in the NHL with 14.

-Oilers could send Nugent-Hopkins down

The 18-year old has taken the NHL by storm in Edmonton scoring five goals and adding two assists.  If “the Nuge” sticks around for nine games, his three-year entry level contract would take effect.
