–          The return of Sid the Kid

Could the most anticipated return in hockey be upon us?  Sidney Crosby has not ruled himself out for Friday’s game against Dallas.  Crosby was with the team for their games against San Jose and Los Angeles, but returned to Pittsburgh to meet with concussion specialists.  Crosby has been sidelined since January 5th.  “I’m just going to get a good week of practice here and see how everything goes,” Crosby said.

–          San Jose hands LA their fifth straight loss

The Kings picked a bad time to go into a slump.  With Eastern Conference powerhouses Pittsburgh coming to town and a trip to division and conference rival San Jose, the Kings had to bring their A game.  They failed to do so.  The Kings lost to Pittsburgh 3-2 in a shootout and lost 4-2 to the Sharks last night.  Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Dan Boyle, and Logan Couture all had goals in the Sharks win. Antti  Niemi added 29 saves to the mix as well.  The Kings have dropped five straight.

–   Paille injured after being struck in face

Boston forward Daniel Paille was hit in the face with a Steve Staios shot in Monday’s 6-2 win over the Islanders.  Staios was immediately helped off the ice and will be seen by specialists.  He has two goals in thirteen games this season.  Check out the video for yourself here:
