– The Dean of Discipline lays down the law again
Brendan Shanahan is at it again. This time it’s Rene Bourque feeling the wrath. Bourque has been suspended without pay for two games for a violent hit on Brent Seabrook. Seabrook will sit out tonight’s game against Pittsburgh for precautionary measures. Seabs was the victim of a vicious James Wisniewski hit last year, which left him with a concussion. He will lose over 36,000 dollars during his suspension. Bourque will miss games against Minnesota and Detroit.
– Oh Canada!
With the recent firing of Canadiens head coach Jacques Martin, the government has stepped in. They have voiced their opinion and are calling for Montreal to hire a French speaking coach. Randy Cunneyworth has stepped in as coach and said, “I have the utmost respect for the language here. Obviously I know a few words, and not all the good ones.”
– Wild continue slide
The once red-hot Minnesota Wild have fallen into a slump losing four straight. Their latest loss came to the Vancouver Canucks. The Sedin twins notched three points each and Roberto Luongo recorded his first shutout this season. Bobby Lu is 6-0-1 in his last seven. The Wild were without four of their top six forwards. Maybe facing a lackluster Calgary team will help get the Wild’s spirits back up and put them back on the winning path.
