Should Nashville have worked that hard to beat Columbus last night?

A lot of offense in the league last night, Detroit and Minnesota continue to struggle in Canada plus more

Buffalo Sabres 2 at Toronto Maple Leafs 3 – Buffalo tied the game up early in the third period up in Toronto. The Leafs got the game winner  nearly four minutes later as these two teams continue to fight for position in the northeast division.

New York Islanders 2 at New York Rangers 4 – The difference in this New York showdown was the Rangers putting in two goals in the second period. Marian Gaborik scored his 20th goal of the season, but my guy Matt Moulson scored his 16th for the Islanders on a powerplay goal.

Florida Panthers 3 at Ottawa Senators 4 F/SO – This game went back and forth with Ottawa scoring in the first and Florida tying the game up in the third, both teams scored twice in the third. Bobby Butler scored in overtime to lift the ‘Sens.

Columbus Blue Jackets 5 at Nashville Predators 6 – Columbus let a 4-1 lead after the first period turn into yet another loss. Jeff Carter for the BJ’s had a hat trick (two of the three coming on the PP) in the first, so he probably feels awful after this defeat. Nashville responded outscoring the Blue Jackets 3-1 in the second. To close the deal the Predators scored two goals in the third to notch the comeback victory at home.

Montreal Canadians 0 at Winnipeg Jets 4 – The Jets shut out the ‘Habs no matter what language you speak French/English. Blake Wheeler provided half the offense scoring two goals for Winnipeg who continued Montreal’s woes.

Detroit Red Wings 2 at Calgary Flames 3Curtis Glencross of the Flames scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season in the victory over the Red Wings. This marks back-to-back defeats for Detroit in Canada having lost to Vancouver on Wednesday night.

Minnesota Wild 1 at Edmonton Oilers 4 – Edmonton scored two goals apiece in the first and second period building a 4-0 by the third. Jordan Eberle scored twice and one on the PP as the Oilers continued Minnesota’s rough trip through Canada having lost at Vancouver, Calgary and now Edmonton.

Anaheim Ducks 2 at Los Angeles Kings 3 F/SO – In the avoid being the worst team in the greater Los Angeles area the Kings defeated the Ducks in a shootout. Dustin Brown scored in regulation and then the winner in the shooutout.

Friday Night (12/23): Boston walloped Florida 8-0 in bean town Brad Merchand had a hat-trick … New Jersey beat Washington 4-3 at the Prudential Center in a shootout in Newark (the one without shootings happening) … Toronto scored three first period goals winning 5-3 on long island … New York defeated Philly 4-2 at MSG Marian Gaborik scored his 21st of the season … Ottawa lost 2-1 at Carolina … Pittsburgh scored three third period goals to beat the Jets 4-1 in Winnipeg … Nashville allowed three first period goals losing 6-3 at Dallas … Colorado set a franchise record with their eight straight victory at home beating Tampa Bay 2-1 … St. Louis won 3-2 at Phoenix … Calgary scored three goals in the third period to win at Vancouver … The Sharks won 2-1 in a shootout against LA at the Shark Tank Ryane Clowe with the only goal.

Monday Night (12/27): Colorado went to Minnesota and continued their unbeaten streak with a 4-2 win … Buffalo got four first period goals in their 4-2 home win against the Caps … King Henrik shutout the Islanders as the Rangers won 3-0 at MSG … The ‘Canes won 4-2 at home versus New Jersey … Dallas fell 5-3 at St. Louis, Chris Stewart scored the first and last goals for the Blues … Detroit won 4-1 at Nashville … Chicago scored three second period goals to take down Columbus 4-1 at the United Center … Vancouver defeat Edmonton at home behind three first period goals 5-3 … The Kings scored twice in the third to defeat the Coyotes in LA 4-3 … Anaheim scored twice in the second to take down the Sharks 3-2 in San Jose
