– Staal cleared for contact
Rangers defenseman Eric Staal has been cleared for contact. The 25-year old has not played all season due to a concussion sustained last February at the hands of his brother. There is still no date for his return to game action.
– Stalberg stays hot
Blackhawks forward Viktor Stalberg has been on the receiving end of criticism for his lack of offense, so how does he respond? He scores twice last night bringing him to nine goals on the season. Stalberg has scored goals in three straight games and carries a four-game point streak into Wednesday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. The Blackhawks beat Columbus 4-1 at the United Center.
– Minnesota anything but Wild
The Minnesota Wild dropped another one last night, this time coming coming at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche. The ‘lanche ditched the pregame skate and opted to fly in to Minnesota yesterday morning rather than fly over the Christmas break. “Pregame skate is overrated,” Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco said. This was Colorado’s first road win since October 22nd.
